The Banka shrew is a white-toothed shrew known only from Bangka Island in Indonesia and possibly Sumatra. It lives in primary and secondary lowland forest, and it is not clear whether it can adapt to human settlements such as plantations. It is threatened by forest loss to logging, expanding plantations such as oil palm, and mining (Wikipedia, general species account).
