Habitat
Small to large water bodies with good aquatic vegetation
Range
South and Southeast Asia to Queensland, Australia
The cotton pygmy goose, or cotton teal, is a small perching duck of South and Southeast Asia that also reaches Queensland in Australia, where it is sometimes called the white-quilled pygmy goose. It is among the smallest waterfowl in the world and lives on small to large water bodies with good aquatic vegetation. It is usually seen in pairs or groups of pairs, roosting and nesting in trees near water (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is a strong flier that disperses widely, especially in winter, and its breeding season coincides with the rains. Two subspecies are recognised (Wikipedia, general species account).
