Upper Malaya, northern Sarawak and Sabah; Sumatra and Kalimantan; Brunei
The dark hawk-cuckoo was formerly considered conspecific with the large hawk-cuckoo and placed in the genus Cuculus. In Malaysia it occurs in upper Malaya, northern Sarawak and Sabah; in Indonesia it is found on Sumatra and in Kalimantan, and it is also found in Brunei (Wikipedia, general species account).
