The dark-tailed tree rat, or Sundaic arboreal niviventer, is a common rodent that lives both in trees and on the ground in primary forest and in secondary wooded habitats, but not outside forests. It might be a species complex (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is found on the Malay Peninsula (Thailand, Malaysia), including offshore islands such as the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar, and in parts of the Malay Archipelago: Singapore, the Anambas Islands, Sumatra, Nias, Belitung, Bangka, Java, Bali, and Borneo and some of its offshore islands (Wikipedia, general species account).
