The pomarine jaeger, or pomarine skua, is a seabird of the skua family that migrates and winters at sea in the tropical oceans. It ranges from 46 to 67 cm in length, 110 to 138 cm in wingspan and 540–920 g in weight. It is most closely related to the larger skuas, such as the great skua, rather than to the two smaller jaegers, and one hypothesis is that it arose through hybridisation between the great skua and one of the smaller jaegers. Like great skuas, it performs wing-raising displays, which the smaller jaegers do not (Wikipedia, general species account).
