Diet

Range

Scarlet minivet complex; the orange minivet form is in the Western Ghats and Sri Lanka

The scarlet minivet complex is a group of bright cuckooshrikes. In its current sense the name Pericrocotus flammeus belongs to the orange minivet of the Western Ghats and Sri Lanka, 17 to 22 cm long, which was formerly counted as a subspecies of the scarlet minivet; the scarlet minivet is regarded as having the wider distribution in eastern and northern India and South-east Asia. Males are bright orange and black, while females are largely yellow with a grey upperside (Wikipedia, general species account).

It feeds mainly on insects while foraging in mixed-species bird flocks or small single-species groups. The Sumatra list uses the older, wider name, so it may refer to the scarlet minivet in the narrower sense.
