The mainland serow is a goat-antelope of the Himalaya, Southeast Asia and China, also found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Males and females are both around 91 cm at the shoulder and typically weigh around 91 kg. Only males have horns, light-coloured, about 150 mm long and curving slightly backward. The coat has bristly, coarse guard hairs covering the finer fur beneath to varying degrees. It is closely related to the red serow (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is territorial and lives alone or in small groups, with peaks of both daytime and night-time activity. A female gives birth to a single young after a gestation of about eight months. In the Nepal Himalaya it prefers 2,500–3,500 m. The cached account gives no diet information (Wikipedia, general species account).
