Eastern and Southeast Asia; hills of tropical southern Asia from eastern Afghanistan to southern China, the Ryukyu Islands and Indonesia
The ashy drongo is widely distributed across eastern and Southeast Asia, with several populations that vary in shade of grey, migration and the size or presence of white patches around the eye. It breeds in the hills of tropical southern Asia, and many northern populations are migratory (Wikipedia, general species account).
