The dusky leaf-nosed bat is a very small leaf-nosed bat with large round eyes, soft long fur and a simple, square nose-leaf. Its colour runs from grey-brown to grey, sometimes tinged orange. It was formerly classified within the bicoloured roundleaf bat, and ranges from India and Sri Lanka to the Philippines, New Guinea and northern Australia (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is nocturnal, flies slowly but manoeuvres well, and eats small flying insects. It roosts in caves, mines and sometimes tree holes, preferring dark, warm, moist places. In northern Australia mating is in April, with young born from October to December (Wikipedia, general species account).
