The elephant trunk snake, or Javan file snake, is a snake of the family Acrochordidae, a family that represents a group of primitive non-venomous aquatic snakes. It has a wide, flat head with the nostrils on top of the snout, which gives it a certain resemblance to boas (Wikipedia, general species account).
