The Shompen frog is found on Great Nicobar Island in India, its type locality, and in western Sumatra in Indonesia. The name refers to the Shompen people, the indigenous people of the interior of Great Nicobar. It is a relatively large, robust frog similar to Limnonectes macrodon, and adult females measure 72–88 mm in snout–vent length. Stomachs of the type series held beetles, a cockroach and a small unidentified frog (Wikipedia, general species account).
