Basic stats

Habitat

Primary and secondary lowland forest below 700m, near swamps and peat bog; breeds in streams

Range

Mentawai Islands, off the Sumatran west coast

The Siberut Island frog, now placed in the genus Pulchrana, is a true frog found in the Mentawai Islands off the Sumatran west coast, including Siberut Island. It possibly occurs on Sumatra itself, though those records seem to refer to an as-yet-undescribed species. It resembles Pulchrana picturata but has a continuous dorsolateral stripe and an unspotted back. It is threatened by habitat loss, mainly from expanding oil palm plantations (Wikipedia, general species account).
